RE'07 is over, the conference attracted 215 delegates, approximately 50% from India and 50% overseas, so we achieved our aim of reaching out to the local IT / software development community. By all accounts a good time was had by all, and the social program was much appreciated.
You can download plenary presentations:
- by Ivar Jacobsen
- by Anthony Finkelstein (Quicktime needed).

RE'08 will soon be upon us - Barcelona, Spain, September 8-12 th 2008 - see www.re08.org. Time to start preparing your papers for submission !
and RE'09 will be in Atlanta, Georgia, USA in end August, early september 2009.
RE'07: Understanding Requirements in the Global Economy
As software development is now part of the global economy, requirements engineering is the key bridge between the customer and supplier. Understanding and translating users’ needs into effective solutions has always been vital; however, as development is outsourced, requirements have to reflect cultures and languages and local needs. Furthermore, understanding requirements becomes a collaborative activity across time and space.
Attending RE'07 will give you
- International state of the art in requirements engineering research
- World wide perspective on Industrial experience and best practice
- Discussion, networking, opportunities to learn from the world’s key researchers and industrialists.
Program Highlights
- Keynote talks by Ivar Jacobson on Use cases, UML and RE; Anthony Finkelstein on RE research directions and Kris Gopalakrishnan on experience of the global RE management
- Research papers on leading edge requirements engineering research
- Industrial experience papers, best practice, reflections on real world RE
- Debates, posters, demos and multimedia presentations
Why should I be interested in Requirements Engineering?
- It is about the difficult part of software development - delivering systems people really want
- It’s practical about processes, tools, and advice on process and quality improvement for software systems
- It’s key for the global software industry, understanding to create successful systems world wide
RE'07: Conference Overview
The IEEE International Requirements Engineering Conference provides the premier international forum for researchers, educators, industrial practitioners and students to present and discuss the most recent innovations, trends, experiences and concerns in the field of requirements engineering.
RE'07 focuses on the international context for requirements engineering; as off-shoring and outsourcing become increasingly common, issues of culture and localisation become critical. Requirements engineering itself will change as it becomes a 24/7 collaborative activity across national boundaries. Globalisation highlights the problems and will stress-test the solutions that already exist in RE, so particular emphasis will be placed on:
- RE in the global economy
- Collaborative Requirements Engineering
- Requirements, culture and localisation
Keynote speakers
- Dr Ivar Jacobson is the creator of ‘Use cases’ and co founder of the Object oriented design movement, UML and the Rationale Unified Process.
- Professor Anthony Finkelstein is one of the founders of Requirements Engineering discipline and organised the 1st IEEE Symposium on Requirements Engineering in 1993. he is a world leading authority on many aspects of RE.
- Kris Gopalakirshnan is President and co-founder or InfoSys, one of the leading software companies in India who are at the leading edge of delivering global software service. Kris is one of the leaders in India’s success in off shore software development.
RE'07 Location: Habitat World Convention Centre, Delhi
RE07 will be hosted in Habitat world centre which provides excellent facilities with an environment of Indian culture. October in Delhi is the best time to come to India, pleasantly warm and sunny. Delhi offers first class hotel and tourism opportunities.
