Tutorial Proposal Submissions
Proposals are invited for full-day (6-hour) and half-day (3-hour) tutorials to be offered on the Monday and Tuesday (15th and 16th October) preceding RE’07’s main conference program. Tutorials should offer participants the opportunity to explore RE topics in depth; to gain new insights, knowledge, and skills; and to learn from some of the leaders in the field. We are particularly keen to offer tutorials that disseminate the results of RE research and experience that is relevant to practitioners in the modern global economy. We encourage tutors to design tutorials that actively engage the participants through interactive and participatory alternatives to traditional lecture-only tutorials.
Tutorial proposals will be evaluated for quality and anticipated participant interest. Tutorials may cover any topic of interest to participants including those designed to:
- Disseminate the results of promising research in greater depth than can be achieved by a paper presentation;
- Disseminate mature research that is ready to make the transition from the laboratory to practical application;
- Improve the take-up and application of methods, techniques or ways of working that have already been deployed and validated in practical applications;
- Help people practice RE across geographical, national, cultural and other boundaries.
Tutorial proposals should be written in English and must include:
- Topic (title)
- Abstract
- Outline program
- Intended audience
- Instructor name(s)
- Brief biographical sketch(es)
- Proposed length (half day or full day)
A sample of presentation material is strongly encouraged as a supplement to the proposal, but the size of this supplement must not exceed five printed pages.
Please indicate whether the proposed tutorial has been given previously, and if so, include where, when, the approximate audience size and the background of previous participants.
How to submit
Proposals of 2-3 pages (not including the sample presentation material) should be submitted electronically in ASCII or PDF format to the RE '07 Tutorials Chair, Pete Sawyer. Please submit the entire proposal as a single document in ASCII or PDF format. Submission deadline is 9th March, 2007.
